WELCOME TO MY BLOG
My name is Dianne Anyango and i am the founder of the Afro fitness blog.
I was born in Kenya and I am currently residing in the beautiful city of Johannesburg. The first half of my life was mostly spent in Kenya, Nairobi and a bit of Kisumu. I have also lived in Malawi, Zambia and Zimbabwe for a bit then my family finally relocating to South Africa. I am basically a fusion of cultures.
Fast forward to 23 years later and I am currently an academic trainee at Wits University ( AKA associate lecturer) with the aim of qualifying as a Chartered Accountant.
I qualified with both an Undergraduate and post graduate degree (with a bachelor in accounting sciences) at wits university and I am currently completing my masters degree in commerce. I was also the selected few( if you want to be exclusive about it) to have been afforded the opportunity to complete my first year of articles at my university. With two years left of my articles and an overwhelming yet amazing experience that i gained this past year, I can’t wait to see what the future has in store for me.
Besides my often hectic work life, I also have an obsession and a genuine love for running. Most of my friends say that it comes as no surprise given that i am of Kenyan descent, it’s all in the genes right?! but this all started in primary school, when my Afrikaans teacher forced me to join the cross country team and I haven’t looked ever back since.
Anyway given my 23 years of life experiences, I have gone on to run various marathons such as the comrades marathon last year and many more. So basically what I am trying to say is that I am a long distance runner. And after receiving an overwhelming support from both friends and family, I decided to start this website that is aimed at documenting my running and fitness journey and also to share some tips and advice as well as possible workout regimes. I am all about education, not just academic, but also other forms…(and this is my failed attempt at trying to be witty)I hope that you can also join me on this journey, So go on and SUBSCRIBE!
